Du Plessis all set for Vereeniging
Randfontein’s lady karting heroine Rachelle du Plessis is ready to race in Saturday 10 September’s sixth Northern Regions championship round at the Vereeniging Kart Circuit following an excellent showing at the recent African Open.
“I am currently fourth in the regional championship,” Rachelle pointed out. “So I need to score some good points to make that gap smaller to second place, because the DD2 championship leader Justin Allison is too far ahead for me to catch him. “I don’t know who is racing on Saturday, but I hear there may be a few other ladies in DD2, but I’m really looking forward to racing again after my high at the African Open — I hope to carry the momentum forward.”
Rachelle will be among at least three of the fairer sex competing in the quickest DD2 gearbox class on Saturday, with African champion Fabienne Lanz and Ivana Cetinich also lining up in a championship quite uniquely peppered with supremely capable karting ladies.
