It was an epic weekend as all-time record 1200-plus machines lined up to start the gruelling Impi Hard Enduro supported by Tork Craft in Bergville, KwaZulu Natal over the weekend. After three days and just 222 kilometres of the toughest riding imaginable, it was James Moore who led a Beta 1-2-3 over Thomas Scales and Travis Teasdale. 

Stark Varg rider Liam Elkington took Silver, Tyrone Pelser’s KTM Bronze and Ian Rall’s KTM Iron class honours. The tenth running of the Impi started off by attracting the biggest ever entry to start any event in the history of South African motorsport. Split into pro Gold, serious Silver, weekend warrior Bronze and amateur Iron classes, each raced a different route depending on rider choice and ability.

James Moore took a 13 minute overall and Gold win over Thomas Scales across the 222 km Gold route. Third placed Travis Teasdale came home ahead of Sherco man Luke Walker, Matt Stevens’ KTM, Kyle Flanagan on another Beta, GasGas rider Heinrich Aust, KTM men Bronson Louw and Bryce Petersen, and Armand Fourie’s Triumph among the 66 Gold riders to start the race.

Liam Elkington beat Rohann van der Westhuizen’s Husqvarna, Rikus Stuart’s KTM, Charan Moore on a Triumph, Geoff Patterson’s KTM and Alistair Feuilherade on a Beta to Silver victory among 290 starters on their 208 km trail. Tyrone Pelser led a 150 km Bronze KTM 1-2-3-4 over Judd Barwell, Tegan van Heerden, James Viljoen, Kai Bell’s GasGas, Cole Roodt’s KTM and an astounding 511 more class rivals. 

And Ian Rall defeated Craig Jackaman, Tiaan Schutte and Jody Robertson’s KTMs, Riley Bac’s Yamaha and Gabriel Janse van Vuuren’s KTM among 337 starters across the 115 km Iron course. 1210 riders started Impi 2026 including Team Tork Craft duo father Ryan’s Beta and son Reese Hunt’s Husqvarna who were credited with 242nd and 243rd after a super tough outing in the Bronze class.
