Fifteen top riders off to fly flag in Italy

South Africa is sending a powerful team of young riders to compete in the FIM Junior World Motocross Championship at Pietramurata Arco di Trento in Italy 13-14 July. The team includes top local riders set to race in the 125cc and 85cc two stroke World Junior Motocross Championships and the 65cc FIM Junior Motocross World Cup.

Team South Africa will take on race and championship-winning motocross riders from around the world chasing the chance to become a FIM Junior Motocross World Champion in each class. The weekend sees practice and qualifying over the Friday and Saturday before the three classes race on Sunday 14 July.

Managed by Wyatt Avis, the South African Junior Motocross team comprises five riders in each class, with SA championship leader Neil van der Vyver topping the FIM Junior 65cc Motocross World Championship team alongside Liam Botha, Jordan van Wyk, Pieter Brink and Thor Johnson.

Blake Young, Dylan Kirk, Nate McLellan, Kyle Townsend and Luke Grundy will represent South Africa in the FIM Junior 85cc World Cup, while SA championship leader Dalton Venter will fly the flag alongside Arnu Saaiman, Calvin Jean-Jacques, Cameron Durow and Camden McLellan in the FIM Junior 125cc Motocross World Championship.
