Jagger, Jason, Keegan, Andy & Siya ready for Touring Car wars

Chemical Logistics Racing is headed for battle with a spring in its step for the third round South African Touring Cars at Aldo Scribante’s National Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola on Saturday 10 May. WCT Volkswagen Golf duo, rookie Jagger Robertson and Julian van der Watt arrive Saturday second and third in the title chase, while FAST BMW squad driver Keegan Campos won the previous race, and teammate Andy Schofield and Fast Corolla rookie Siya Mankonkwana are keen on clean races in Nelson Mandela Bay.

“It’s been an odd start to the season with a few team and driver changes over the first two rounds and one team missing the opening races,” team principal Ian Schofield explains. “That also makes for an interesting championship prospect as those drivers chase back on the log, but Chemical Logistics Racing arrives at Aldo Scribante off a brilliant team sweep for Keegan, Jagger, and Julian at Kyalami. Now the plan is to keep that ball rolling through what promises to be a spectacular weekend of racing.”

Sitting second in the title chase, South African Touring Cars rookie and reigning Investchem Formula 1600 champion Jagger Robertson is delighted with his season so far in his Chemical Logistics WCT Engineering Sparco Volkswagen Golf. “I’ve kept my head down and scored consistently among the confusion around me so far this season,” Jagger explains. “Now the plan is to keep doing the same at Scribante and bring home another solid pile of points.”

Chemical Logistics WCT Engineering Volkswagen Golf teammate Julian van der Watt may however have expected a little better in the chase, considering his pace in each race weekend so far. “Third in the chase looks a bit better than it perhaps should be, so I suppose there’s a little luck in that!” Julian admits. “I had a weekend to forget at home at Killarney and we struggled with race pace at Kyalami too. The plan is to put that all behind us in PE, so bring it on!”

Debutant Keegan Campos arrived in South African Touring Cars in spectacular style at Kyalami aboard his Campos Transport FAST Racing BMW 328tc. “I enjoyed a dream start to my top class South African Touring Cars career,” 2024 SATC SupaCup runner-up Campos points out. “Now we simply cannot wait for the rest of the season where we have a little work to do to catch up after missing the opening round. That starts at Scribante. Can’t wait!”

FlySafair Chemical Logistics FAST BMW 328tc teammate Andrew Schofield is looking for a step up after an occasionally  frustrating start to his season. “I’ve had reasonable pace mixed with a little too much bad luck, so here’s to a clean weekend and a decent points haul at Scribante.” Rookie Formula 1600 graduate Siyabonga Mankonkwana is looking forward to his second outing in the Investchem FAST Racing Toyota Corolla: “Kyalami was a baptism of fire so I cannot wait to settle down and get on with it at Aldo.”

The Chemical Logistics Racing quintet will be out in force in the South African Touring Cars races as part of a full National Extreme Festival program, always a spectacular weekend at the Gqeberha racetrack. See you at Aldo Scribante!
