Lupini's title charge continues through lockdown

Giordano Lupini is relishing the chance to continue his cheapercars GTi Challenge Class B championship charge at Killarney’s fifth round Power Series races on Saturday 10 July. The weekend’s race meeting is allowed to continue, being a regional event, albeit under even stricter lockdown laws. That won’t stop Lupini from putting his best foot forward as always, aboard his Bullion IT Banhoek Chilli Oil Jetta 2 GLi at the Cape Town raceway.

“The last thing we were expecting to do next week is race among all this confusion,” Giordano admitted. “But we have entered and the show must go on! “We've had a great season so far and I’m really looking forward to continue my duel with Eden Thompson. “It’s been a splendid dice and we have won three races each since I rejoined the GTi Challenge. “I started a race into the season and I've managed to peg my points deficit back to just four since, so the chase is really and truly on!

“We spent more time fettling the Bullion Banhoek Jetta at Nian du Toit Racing since the last race, but the persistent rain has prevented any running. “Hopefully we will be able to test a little once the rain abates next week, but we will be ready either way, and I am sure so are our main rivals. “Be sure to watch the action live on Killarney’s facebook page — it’s bound to be thrilling as always, especially if it's wet!”
