Fourth-generation racer Giordano Lupini races in the the CompCare Volkswagen Polo Cup
Born into a racing family, Gio's great-grandfather competed in the Mille Miglia in the late-1920s and grandpa was a contemporary of Basil van Rooyen, Arnold Chatz and Jan Hettema in the 1950s and '60s, while dad Michele has raced extensively on track and stages since the '80s
Giordano started racing 60cc primary school Maxterino karts at the age of ten in 2011 and was soon winning at national level - most notably at a drenched Killarney in 2012. He moved up to Junior Max karts in 2013, where he enjoyed a competitive 2015 before becoming the youngest WP driver to ever race at Killarney at just 14 at the end of that year.
Following a solid debut season in the WP Bold Marine WP GTi Challenge at the tender age of 14 Gio won his first races during the 2016 season before he stepped up to national racing in the Polo Cup in 2017, where he showed great pace to regularly qualify in the top ten. He back to GTi Challenge where he was Class C champion in 2019 and then back to Polo Cup where he won in 2022 and is a frontrunner in 2023.
B Com graduate Giordano hopes to win national championships in future and also to race overseas.
