Stermin set to take on the world
Durbanville Western Cape Senior Max karting championship leader Dino Stermin is in his element as he heads to his ancestral home in Northern Italy to tackle the Vortex Senior Rok World Karting Finals 18-22 October, but the Fairmont High grade 11 scholar cannot wait to fly the South African flag high a most competitive international field, in spite of several firsts for him in the coming week.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at a track that I’ve never been to as well as to driving a Senior Rok kart for the first time,” Dino explained. “This weekend is a new experience for me and I’m really excited. “I’m also looking forward to working with former South African world karting champion Wesleigh Orr and having the support of SA’s leading Roos Kart Team in Italy.
Dino has some sound international karting experience, having raced in the rival Rotax Max Grand Finals last year, but he switched to the Rok event following confusion around the SA Senior Max championship. “My goal is to make it to the Final and if that happens, I would like to finish top 10,” Stermin promised. “We have a couple of days to practice and prepare, so I’m going to give it my all and hopefully make SA proud. “Let’s hope for the best!”
