Just eleven championship points separate the 2026 top three as the Volkswagen Rookie Cup heads back home to Aldo Scribante racetrack for the third time this season. The Rookies joined a regional and a national meeting at their home track before the East London round was relocated there for this weekend’s fifth round 15 August National Extreme Festival.

“Aldo Scribante is having its fair share of the Volkswagen Rookie Cup racing this year,” Volkswagen Head of Motorsport Mike Rowe shrugged. “We came here for a regional and then the national and now the East London round has been relocated there, so our home fans really are being spoiled. It’s also very interesting in the championship, where Luke Hill still leads Sebastian Dias, but Sebastian Venkov is the man on the move, so let’s see how this weekend pans out. Jack Moore will want to fight back, while Keyaan Dwomoh and Max Corbett are both itching for that first win.”

Rookie Cup sophomore Luke Hill hit the ground running, winning the first three races on the trot in his PMD Transport Volkswagen Polo Vivo GT. PMD Transport Versaflex lad Sebastian Dias however defeated Hill in the second heat at the previous Scribante round, and then won another race at Zwartkops to more than halve Hill’s title advantage. 

They were all even last time out, but Sebastian Venkov played himself into title contention with a double win in his 23 Degrees Vivo. Venkov’s gain was Jack Moore’s loss and he will be out to make amends in his Puma Fleet Dynamics Vivo. He’s also won a race this season and will need to do more of the same if he plans to fight back. 

And then there are rookies, Adhive racer Keyaan Dwomoh and Century Racing lad Max Corbett. Both of whom have made steady progress as they also target their mouthwatering maiden victories.
