Dunlop drivers dominate Extreme Festival classes

Dunlop toasted its full crop of 2025 Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola circuit racing champions after the Regional season came to a head at the Zwartkops Raceway finale on Saturday. Another of high action saw Dunlop shod 2025 Northern Regions champions Warren Lombard, Adriaan de Beer, Hein van der Merwe and Lendl Jansen join National counterparts Michael van Rooyen, Tate Bishop, Jonathan du Toit, Rory Atkinson, and KC Ensor-Smith in the racing history books.

“Dunlop is supremely proud as we toast all our Extreme Festival presented by Coca-Cola champions for 2025,” Dunlop Marketing Manager Joanne de Freitas confirmed. “It’s been an epic and hectic season of great racing around the country and throughout Gauteng. Huge congratulations to Warren, Adriaan, Hein, and Lendl who now join our National counterparts, Michael, Tate, Jonathan, Rory, and KC as Dunlop’s 2025 circuit racing champions.”

Warren Lombard started his final 2025 Dunlop V8 Supercars attack with the Dunlop Pole Position Award before taking his thundering Ford Mustang to the first race win. Ending second to Terry Wilford in the final race was enough to see Warren clinch the title with a 13-point advantage over season-long rival Thomas Reib. Late charger Terry Wilford ultimately rose to third in the chase from Auke Compaan, Wayne Spicer, and Sam Dahl.

While Class A lad Jayden Goosen took the ATE VW Challenge Dunlop Pole Position Award before storming to the overall win with a couple of victories over Anthony Lessing, the championship war went on until quite literally the final lap behind them. Ultimately it was Class C driver Adriaan de Beer who took the title from B champion Stuart Mack and C rival Bryce Pillay. But not before a crunching affair saw Pillay fall back and a rival earn a red card. Behind them, Jayden Goosen clinched the A title in fourth overall ahead of Class C man Stuart Konig and B driver Francis Aldrich.

Rick Loureiro took BMW M Performance Parts Series Dunlop Pole award before leading brother Paulo and Leon Loubser to the first race win. Loubser took the second heat, but nobody would stop Renier Smith from taking his second overall and Class B titles on the trot with another tidy double win. Loubser came home Class A champion, while Hein van der Merwe took the C double to wrap up that title. Bernard De Gouveia rattled off a win and third behind Eugene Gouws to clinch the D and Eddie Rodrigues claimed the E title despite Claudio Jardim’s double class win there. Henry Platt however clinched the Class F title with his Zwartkops finale double victory.

Last but not least, Theodore Vermaak took advantage of newly crowned double champion Lendl Jansen sitting the DOE Formula Vee finale out to grab the Dunlop Pole prize before racing to a double win over Gert van den Berg. That was not enough for Vermaak to catch van den Berg for second in the chase though, but it was good for third, two points clear of Vaughn Hills. He led a family affair as dad Peter and brother Brandon Hills rounded off the 2025 top six.
