Lupini keen to impress the crowd at the racetrack again

Giordano Lupini can’t wait to race his Bullion IT and Banhoek Chilli Oil Class B Jetta at the third round of the Cheapercars GTi Challenge at Killarney Saturday 1 May. Not only does Lupini intend to pick up where he left off on his winning return to the series a few weeks back, but he’s also relishing the prospect of racing in front of the Killarney faithful once again, at last.

“Best of all is we hear that spectators may be allowed back at races again soon,” Giordano explained. “We understand that MSA has applied to have race fans return to the track since the sports ministry recently confirmed that it is considering opening up sports to spectators again. “Racing is just not the same without spectators at the track and I'm sure that I speak for all racers, when I say that it would be a great honour and privilege to have our fans back!”

Franschhoek racer Lupini returned to the GTi Challenge in dominant form at the last meeting and is hoping to continue where he left off. “We were delighted with our results in our comeback races,” the 2019 Class C champion admitted. “We had a few issues which prevented a perfect weekend, but we've spent the short time between races tinkering with the Bullion Banhoek Jetta and we are ready to come out with all guns blazing!”

“My team, Nian du Toit Racing has put in a huge effort and I would like to thank them with the best possible performance. “With a little luck, that may even be in front of a sorely missed crowd on the banks, on the grandstands and around the pits. “We really hope that spectators will be allowed before the weekend, and if not as soon as possible after that.”
