Gunner closes off competitive

Bryanston kart racer Oliver Gunner closed off his career with another impressive performance at the final round of the 2017 Northern Regions championship at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway on Saturday. Gunner continued his close fight with Joshua Dias and Daniel Duminy to end up a close third aboard his d'Amico Attorneys Tony Kart, on the day to clinch third in the championship too.

“Josh, Daniel and me have had a close fight all year and all three of us went to Vereeniging’s finale with a chance to fight for the championship win,” Oliver reported. “Sadly it was not quite the race day we had hoped for, but we certainly tried our best in the circumstances.

“There are several people I need to thank — not least of all my mom for the year, my dad for the support, my amazing spanner man Lyle, Leeroy and Xtreme Racing for all the help, Mark Williams for the great engine throughout the year and Etienne Roos. “Without all of you my focus for the championship would not have been possible — thank you all and well done to Joshua Dias on winning the championship.

“Unfortunately this year was my last in Karting - one thing is for sure though, it was definitely my best season by far!”
