Rademeyer's rare Killarney away win

Blaine Rademeyer left Killarney with the rare exception of being one of very few visiting karters to beat the Cape locals at the second round of the SA National Karting Championships on Saturday. Rademeyer overcame a most competitive local Junior Max pack to win the opening race en route to second overall on the day.

“We had exceptional pace, but once again we did not have the breaks,” the Honeydew Curro Aurora High grade 8 scholar rued. “I was delighted with that first race win and I was flying in heat 2 before I had a throttle cable issue that caused me to struggle home to fifth and in the final I was in the top 3 again, when I was sent off the track by a back marker because there were no blue flags to warn him I was coming.

“Anyway, it was not a bad result overall because we were not the only ones to hit drama and I ended up second overall for the day, which I will take with both hands! “I am now far more confident with my driving ability and we are still right in the championship chase, so roll on Idube in July…”
