A class win and four podiums as all six Red-Lined cars finish
All six Red-Lined Motorsport race cars that started the most demanding round of the 2025 South African National Rally-Raid Championship so far, finished the Outeniqua 400 over the weekend. And to top this, Philip Botha and Stompie Mynhardt took their maiden class win as they led a Red-Lined clean sweep in the South African T1+ class, and where Namibians Marko Himmel and Francois Schoonbee went on to retain their championship lead with just two rounds remaining.
“We are delighted to have all six Red-Lined cars that started the Outeniqua round, eventually finish this tough and demanding race,” Red-Lined team principal Terence Marsh confirmed. “This one threw everything at us over a tough new route in the mountains. The guys absolutely loved the challenge, even with a few of them having to incur a couple of stage penalties along the way in what were really rough and testing conditions. Special congratulations to Philip and Stompie on their first SA T1+ class win, and thereafter to every member of the team who went way beyond to deliver these exceptional results!”
A steady and consistent run saw Penta Motor Group crew Philip Botha and Stompie Mynhardt storm to a maiden SA T1+ class win in their Red-Lined REVO T1+ V8. Second in SA T1+ in Outeniqua. Namibian duo Marko Himmel and Francois Schoonbee aboard their Red-Lined Evo 1, went on to extend their championship lead of the SA T1+ class championship. Third in the SA T1+class, and locking out the class podium for Red-Lined, was the ever consistent and experienced Dutch crew of Dave and Tessa Klaassen who had a strong weekend in their DaklaPack Rallysport REVO GT-R.
Johan de Bruyn and Adriaan Roets went on to add a fourth podium for the weekend for the Red-Lined family with their second place in the T1 Adventurer class. To add to this result they also went on to win their fourth VAPS HCV Red-Lined T1 Cup win on the trot. Behind them, young Jayden Els and Johan Swemmer showed some really encouraging pace during the event aboard the top-class Red-Lined REVO GT-R, before being required to stop and assist team mate Marko Himmel in his pursuit of the SA T1+ Championship. Himmel and Schoonbee experienced some technical difficulties towards the end of the final loop which required Els and Swemmer to provide much needed assistance in order to get them to the finish.
Speaking of soldiering home, the Elegant Fuels crew of Danie Ludick and Denzil Williamson who led the time sheets in the SA T1+ class on the Friday before rolling their Red-Lined REVO, came storming back on the Saturday to fifth in class and ensure that all six Red-Lined cars finished the race. With just two rounds of the 2025 South African Championship now remaining, there is still plenty to play for team Red-Lined!
