All new MSA4 single seaters for maiden run at Killarney

Cape Town race fans have something new and exciting to look forward to when the Investchem MSA4 single seaters make their first trip to the province for the Extreme Festival powered by Coca-Cola at the Killarney International Raceway on Saturday 13 September.

Like mini Grand Prix cars, the new Volkswagen turbo 3-cylinder-powered Investchem MSA4 cars race on slick tyres, feature aerofoils front and rear and F1-inspired driver protection halos and safety cells. Designed and developed in South Africa to fit local racing budgets, the Investchem MSA 4 machines also have robust spaceframe chassis built by the same people who design Dakar cars.

Killarney hosts the third round of the inaugural Investchem MSA4 championship on Saturday, where dominant former karting champion KC Ensor-Smith has shown the way by winning four of the five heats run so far in his green and turquoise African Heating Investchem MSA4. Mikel Bezuidenhout is the only driver to have beaten Smith so far in a reverse-grid race. He sits second in the chase in his Corsa dei Gemelli car.

Behind them, Durbanite Shrien Naidoo’s Production X machine and KMFT Morita lad Karabo Malemela are tied in third ahead of Renzo Ribeiro’s Metal Used Spares entry and Red Dot Vanage racer Liam Polome in a tight tussle for fifth. And Namibian Adriaan Nel and his Windhoek Cycles machine will be back after missing the second round to resolve his championship tie with Nicholas van Weely’s Investchem CLR entry.

Kian Spies’ Corsa dei Gemelli car and Ndzalo Khoza’s Ducted Solutions Makasela MSA4 close off the top ten ahead of Alex Vos, who also missed the last race and rookie lass Anastasia Gerasis, who scored a point on debut last time out. Also watch for fellow lady racer Simphiwe Mohlahlo and Jorden Moodley’s progress, while Ian Schofield, Rick Morris, Allen Meyer, Ron van Weely, and Duncan Vos will join the action behind in their classic wingless and treaded tyre Formula Ford Kents.

The new Investchem MSA4 machines should be very well suited to the 5-turn Killarney International Raceway that also has enough straights to promote overtaking, close racing. All of which will add to the thrill of the Extreme Festival powered by Coca-Cola on Saturday 13 September. Catch the action live via the Extreme Festival social media and if you’re in the Cape, see you at Killarney!
