Wild Brat Pack set to stun 10 March

It may be the smallest category in the Western Province BurlyPro GTi Challenge, but the Class C Brat Pack is fast becoming recognised as among the most competitive classes in all of South African motorsport. Now it’s all about to step up another notch or two at Killarney’s Saturday 10 March second-round Wingfield Power Series races, with even more top drivers joining the race to beat reigning champion and first round winner Marco Busi (Automan) in the class limited to Golf 1 GTis.

So not only will Shane Williams, Giordano Lupini and Jarred Simpson be out to beat Busi, with Jacques Geldenhuys, Bryan Morgan, Chris Swart and Dario Busi looking for a little more luck, but two more hugely experienced drivers now also join in the fun as Brett Roach and Ebrahim Levy come back to stir that Brat Pack action up even more vigorously.

Busi drove a canny race to move into an early lead last time out as he left the fight between 2016 champion Bryan Morgan (Greatsoft) the returning Jacques Geldenhuys (G+A Motorsport), former European Polo Cup champion Shane Williams, young gun Giordano Lupini (CIR/La Vie de Luc) and the tough Jarred Simpson (Greatsoft) last time out.

Morgan and Geldenhyus however ran into trouble, leaving Williams and Lupini to stand on the lower podium steps with Simpson next up. Gert du Plessis (Cheaper Cars), Dillon Joubert (Powder Coating World/TAC) and younger Busi brother, Dario (15) fought it out in the midfield, with Ian Kapp (Hydracor) and Alfie van Zyl keeping a watching brief after another former Class C champion Christopher Swart was eliminated in a startline crash.

All of them will be back for round 2, promising another two heats of wild action, but now they will be joined by two men with vast GTi Challenge and other experience, including Polo Cup and Production Cars over the years. Two more combative drivers in an already wild bunch can only mean one thing — the most entertaining action at the racetrack, so be sure to be at Killarney to watch it all go down.
