Visser picks up GTi pieces for splendid first win

Former South African Mini Max karting champion Kyle Visser has enjoyed a dream start to his main circuit racing career. 15 year old DF Malan High School, Durbanville grade 9 learner Kyle was only allowed to race on the big track for the first time at the previous GTi meeting, but he took Class B victory in the weekend’s Killarney Alert Engine Parts GTi Challenge races.

“Wow, I wasn’t quite expecting to win, but here we are!” a delighted Kyle admitted after the race. “I qualified sixth for the first heat and lost a little ground early on, so I put my head down and chased like hell to come home fourth in that race. “I managed to close down on the battle in front of me and set the fastest lap in the process, so I started race 2 on pole position.”

“Race 2 was wild! “I never made the best of starts and ended up fifth, just behind a mad dice, but there was a crash somewhere out on track, and they red flagged the race. “We went back to the pits and only re-started an hour or so later. “I was in fourth after a couple of laps and there was huge drama ahead and cars all over the place. “Next thing I knew, I was leading! “So, we won the race and the day, in only my second race meeting!

“It may have been a bit lucky, but now I already have my first win, my first fastest lap and my first pole position! “This has been a big step up for me, so to win so early is a huge boost for my confidence,” Kyle concluded. “I must thank Munier Allie for setting up my car, to my main men Zefrey and Bigshow, my brother Charl Michael for all the advice, and of course ma and pa for all the support and to all my friends and fans too.”
