Motlekar ready for Gauteng kart season
Dainfern youngster Ghazi Motlekar is all set for the new Gauteng Rotax Mini Max karting season, especially considering it starts at the all-new Formula K Kart Track on leap year Saturday 29 February. Motlekar has been hard at it in preparation for his second year in the under-13 class, where he hopes to prove a major factor in 2020.
“We decided to stay in Mini Max this season, rather than move up to Junior a year early,” Ghazi explained. “We were very quick towards the end of last season and I won a few races and I have also had a good start to the new year. “We had a strong outing at the Zwartkops club races a few weeks back and I was happy with how we went in Cape Town last week, in spite of a few issues on my old kart on the day.
Now we start the real season — we're chasing the Northern Regions and National Mini Max titles this year and that starts on a brand new track on leap year day, so it's all quite exciting. “I have a great team around me with Aldrin van Zyl looking after the kart under my manager, uncle Hughie Orr’s watchful eye and we have a couple of aces up our sleeve so we can’t wait — all I can add, is bring it on!”
