Campos ends Polo season in style

Keegan Campos closed his Falken Polo Cup season off on the front foot with a positive outing at the series first visit to the Red Star raceway in Delmas mieleifields on Saturday. Campos Transport racer Keegan was delighted with a more or less clean weekend to claw a place back to sixth in the championship following a tough run of late.

“I sneaked into Superpole with sixth in qualifying on Saturday morning and that set us up for a positive weekend,” Keegan owned up. “Superpole went even better and I started fourth and managed to gain a place early on and then just sent it to end up on the podium. “The second race started well and I was ahead for a bit, but the car was not as crisp that time around and despite my best efforts I slipped back to fifth, which was pretty good all considered.“That was good for fourth overall and I managed to sneak back up to sixth in the final championship points, so quite a good weekend overall.

“It’s been a tough season though and we struggled at times, but we have also been on the pace more often than not. “Now we look forward to the non-championship 9-Hour support race at Kyalami in November before we regroup for the 2020 season with a lot of new drivers coming in, it may be a very different prospect and our experience should start to count — bring it on!"
