Husqvarna chasing more success in the Cape

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing heads through Ceres, up and over Gydo Pass to the dusty, rough and tough Koue Bokkeveld 400 for the second round South African Cross Country Moto championship. where it will be on a mission for best results over the Saturday 4 May weekend.

“I'm looking forward to the Bokkeveld,” Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Dakar star and top-ten finisher in the recent Moroccan Merzouga Rally, Kenny Gilbert admitted. “This is a completely different race to the technical season opener at Jolivet — it’s dry, dusty and fast and closer to the terrain at the Dakar and in Morocco, which is all good. “I know I can rely on my team for a perfect Husqvarna FX 450, so bring it on — I’m keen to go one better on my second place there last year!”

Taki Bogiages heads to the Western Province after pulling off an incredible comeback for the previous race in KZN. “I went to Jolivet looking only to finish my first race after breaking my back and I pulled that off and scored some points,” Taki, who last week graduated with a BSC in chemistry, admitted. “I've worked flat out to return to full strength and come back stronger at the Bokkeveld — I was second in OR2 there last year, so would it not be great to improve on that?”

Masters class rider Iain Pepper is another Pepson Plastics Husqvarna man keen on a strong run after his own recuperation. “Yep, I’m looking forward to the race — this was a great event last year, so hopefully it will be as good,” Iain, who enjoyed a productive wildcard appearance on the recent Zwartkops Polo Cup circuit car race confirmed.““I had an operation on my hand in the off season and it seems to be healed now so let’s see how it goes…”

“Pepson Plastics Husqvarna is looking forward to another positive weekend in the dusty Koue Bokkeveld,” Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “We can expect conditions to be tough with limited visibility, which is perfect for Kenny, while both Taki and Iain thrived in those conditions last year. “Go for it lads!”
