Race titles on line at Zwartkops finale

Zwartkops Raceway brings the curtain down on a full and entertaining 2018 race season at the Regional Race Festival Grand Finale Saturday 10 November, where the highlight is bound to be a G&H Extreme Supercars showdown between Charl Arangies in either his Lamborghini or his Aston Martin, and Franco Scribante’s magnificent Porsche 911 Turbo.

That duo has been flat out at it all season long and while Arangies has had it pretty much his own way, Scribante has struggled to find the kind of luck his rival has enjoyed. Scribante has however held the upper hand when his luck has held out and this is one tete-a-tete thats really worth watching. Zwartkops typically draws a top quality G&H Extreme Supercars, so expect a grid packed with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and maybe even a McLaren; a KTM or two, a wild Alfa Romeo, a fleet of mad BMWs and much more.

Just as spectacular, the wild, winged and gumball tyred rolling thunder V8 Supercars return to Zwartkops 10 November as the monster V8 Trans Am Corvettes, Jaguars, Luminas and Falcons that have kept SA race fans rapt for decades will once again set Zwartkops alight as Mackie Adlem fights Franco Matteo and Benjamin Morgenrood off in that title struggle.

Then there’s the matter of a few top SA National and Northern Regions championships to settle, not least of all the MotorMart Volkswagen Challenge where a solitary point separates overall and class A leaders Stiaan Kriel and Rory Atkinson in the title race and there are just nine points between Jacques Smith, Deon Holliday Junior and Chris Dale on top of Class B. Should be a cracker!

Almero van Eck has a chance to topple Louis Scholtz for the outObarn Superhatch title, while the Car Care Clinic 111 Saloons will see a fight up front between George Bezuidenhout’s Primera and Wouter Roos (Golf) for class A honours, while there’s much ado a little further back too, as Andy Gossman’s Polo and Mark Gregory chase the Class E title.

The Hankook SA National Formula Vee title is also up for grabs on 10 November between Jaco Schriks, Gert van den Berg and Lushen Ramchander and bike fans will be well catered for as the Bridgestone Thunderbikes and Bridgestone Sub-10 Superbikes strut their Zwartkops stuff too, with the likes of veterans Clint Seller (Yamaha) dicing new champion Lance Isaacs (BMW) out front in the Thunderbikes.

There’s practice all day Friday before qualifying first thing Saturday, while racing starts at 11am — adult entry is R120, students get in for R90 and kids under 12 are free, tickets are available at the gate or can be booked online at itickets.co.za.
