Duminy impresses in final Polo Cup

Daniel Duminy closed off his season with an impressive performance at Zwartkops’ Polo Cup finale on Saturday, before calling time on his race career. Duminy qualified sixth before racing to sixth in the first race and then ended eleventh in the second heat.

“That was a pretty good weekend - the car was good and I need to thank my SMD Racing with VMR team for all the effort to always ensure I have the best kit on track,” Daniel reflected. “But the time has come for a change and it’s a bittersweet moment that I bid the racetrack goodbye. “When I stepped in a kart for the first time at 12 years old, it was the best feeling I'd ever felt. "From that day I dedicated my life to racing, which is probably the most stressful thing I've ever put myself and my parents through!

“I have learned so much and met so many people through racing and I am super grateful to my parents who have sacrificed so much for me to do what I love. “But this race weekend was the last of my career —  it’s been one hell of a ride and I must thank everyone who has been a part of it, but now it’s a new beginning for me — bring it on!"
