Lupini takes heart from positives
“They tell me that what does not kill you, makes you stronger,” Giordano Lupini explained after yet another fraught day aboard his Class C Accelerate 102 Special Gasoline/La Vie de Luc/CIR Golf 1 GTi in the final round of the WP Burly Pro GTi Challenge at Killarney on Saturday. “Today was the third race of the season that we were on pole position and it’s the third time we did not start from that pole position either.
“So I’m not sure what we need to do for a little good luck for once — maybe we need to go throw some bones, but we have had some really tough luck this year.” Giordano scored a dominant pole position in class on Saturday morning, but his Golf was burning oil and started misfiring en route to the grid, so he pulled off and watched the race from the sidelines once again. The team sorted the car for the second race and Giordano started from the pit lane before charging to fifth in class as he set the fastest lap of the day to salvage a few points in the end in spite of a still smoky car.
“So yes, I reckon I must be pretty strong after a year like that if there’s any truth to that myth! “We need to spend some time and effort over the off season to turn some of our obvious pace into some proper results next year and we have already begun the processes to achieve that. “I’m actually already looking forward to next season once it comes…"ENDS
