Malmesbury test for Team acciDent Guru

Double champion Western Cape Rally Team acciDent Guru starts it’s 2017 Championship attack at the series’ second round CPMCC Malmesbury Rally Saturday 1 April following a round the clock effort to prepare its three car attack for action.

The 2017 team comprises a trio of Volkswagen Golf 1 GTis two Class S3 entries for Piet Bakkes and Kes Naidoo and Paul van Wyk and Divan de Goede, while Ian Long and Brian Hoskins will do battle in S2. “It’s been a crazy week - we only finished at 3am this morning,” team principal Paul van Wyk explained.

“All three cars were totally rebuilt during the off-season — we have done a considerable amount of suspension development since last season and we’ve found some extra power, but we also struggled to get that right on dyno yesterday. “So we are ready and looking forward to the event in Malmesbury, although it will basically be our first shakedown opportunity for all three cars.”

Class S3 champions Van Wyk and de Goede who so closely missed out on the overall 2016 WP rally title, will be out in their familiar red acciDent Guru Golf 1 GTi, with Bakkes and Visser competing in the technically similar silver car and Class S2 champions — the Tarmac Terrorist Ian Long and Killarney main circuit Clerk of the Course Brian Hoskins will be out to defend their title in the white Golf 1 GTi.
