Van der Vyver, Malan win in Jozi

Q4 Fuels Husqvarna Racing enjoyed a great day’s racing at Saturday's fifth-round TRP South African National Motocross Championship races Dirt Bronco in Krugersdorp as both open class rider Maddy Malan and 65cc Junior racer Neil van der Vyver left with a solid grip on their championship leaders’ red number plates. Van der Vyver took double 65cc wins as Malan won the first and ended third in the second MX1 race in the absence of injured MX2 rider Nick Adams.

It was another perfect day at the races for Q4 Fuels Husqvarna 65cc hero Neil van der Vyver, who rolled off his third double moto success in four meetings. “That was a great day’s racing” Capetonian 65cc championship leader Neil owned up. “We came to Jo’burg well prepared and determined to return to my winning ways and I was delighted to have done just that — special thanks to uncle Fred and the whole Q4 Fuels Husqvarna Racing team — now to keep this momentum rolling!"

Maddy Malan meanwhile arrived in Krugersdorp with a single-point open class MX1 championship lead and left with a handy title advantage. “My first race was brilliant — I bided my time and the race came to me to allow me to move ahead later on to win by four seconds. “I had to work for third in the second race, but a double podium for the day was good — this result has also eased that title pressure so I can now head to my home race in a handy title lead for Q4 Fuels Husqvarna Racing.”

“Krugersdorp proved a great weekend for Q4 Fuels Husqvarna Racing,” Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “Neil and Maddy both consolidated their South African championship leads as we head into the second half of the season — very well done guys! “Sadly Nick Adams suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and missed this round — now let’s see what Pietermaritzburg brings on 10 August.”
