Atkinson, Tait aim to impress on home ground
Volkswagen Motorsport’s Rory Atkinson is ready to claw back following a tough previous SATC SupaCup outing, while teammate Christopher Tait plans to build on his 30th Anniversary Astron Energy Polo Cup promise as Volkswagen motorsport prepares to thrill its faithful Gqeberha home fans when the National Extreme Festival visits Aldo Scribante on Saturday 27 June.
“Our Aldo Scribante home track is a special appointment for Volkswagen Motorsport every Extreme Festival season, and Saturday is no different,” Mike Rowe, Volkswagen Head of Motorsport explains. “Rory Atkinson has every intention of fighting his way back into the lead of the SATC SupaCup after a tough weekend in the SupaPolo last time out, while Volkswagen Rookie Cup champion Christopher Tait is improving at his every 30th Anniversary Astron Energy Polo Cup outing. So we intend to give our loyal Scribante fans something to shout about on Saturday!”
“We had a positive start in SATC SupaCup, but Zwartkops proved a tough nut to crack last time out,” Volkswagen SupaPolo rookie Rory Atkinson owns up. “We hit some issues and left with our tail between our legs, so we’ve stood up, dusted ourselves off and I’m determined to get back to winning ways in front of our loyal fans this weekend. We’ve worked hard as a team since and I am confident we will once again have an incredible car this weekend. Let’s do this, guys!”
Christopher Tait made more good progress he made in the third round of the cauldron of Astron Energy Polo Cup last time out and the plan is to continue to move forward at Aldo Scribante. “The Zwartkops weekend came to us after a difficult start last time out, so I hope that we can have a good build up at Aldo Scribante and that we can carry that through to another positive race day,” Christopher said. “So here’s to that breakthrough to crack Superpole and the chance to fight up front on Volkswagen’s home ground”
“Aldo Scribante is always Volkswagen Motorsport’s favourite Extreme Festival outing every year with so much support from the Plant, family and friends,” Rowe concludes. “We intend to give all something to shout about. See you at the races!”
