Double Max podiums for Snyman at Zwartkops

Troy Snyman knew he had bitten off a lot to chew when he entered two classes in the past weekend’s double header Rotax Max Challenge karting national. The Pietermaritzburg lightie not only finished each one of the twelve Junior and Mini Max heats he started over the two days, but he took home a couple of podiums and won a Mini heat along the way.

“We knew it was a tall order,” Troy admitted. “But what’s life without a challenge? “It was an interesting couple of days jumping between the big, powerful Junior chassis, which needs to be taken by the scruff of the neck and forced to do what you want, and the light and nimble Mini kart, which demands a far more precise approach to carry the momentum.

“Still, we had a very good weekend in the end — I did win a heat in Mini Max and ended up tied for second on the day, but I was classified third, but that’s cool. “We ended up second overall in Junior Max — I was a bit of a bridesmaid there with five second places, but we had an issue in one heat, so that broke the jinx!

“I may not have won either of my classes, but this really was a challenging weekend,” Troy concluded. “I was the only karter at Zwartkops to race two classes throughout the double-header weekend. “I ended up on the podium in both Junior and Mini Max, so I'm more than happy with the result — this was a personal victory for me!”
