Positive Dino impresses in Italy

Cape Town karter Dino Stermin is looking forward to racing for his second Western Cape karting title in a row at Killarney's final round this weekend, fresh off a tough but gratifying Rok International Cup campaign in Italy over the past weekend.

“Im leaving Italy with a smile as I grew so much at a track that I did not know before,” Fairmont High Grade 11 scholar Stermin admitted. “I learnt so many new tricks in the wet as well as the dry and I’m really proud of myself because I don’t think I’ve driven so well in my racing career — I ran consistently in top 5 on lap times against the best in the world all weekend.

“Qualifying never went our way, but I managed to make it into the top 10 in every heat and I'm really proud of that.” Dino remains positive despite being taken out of the Final twice in three laps, which forced him to retire. “There are no negatives at all about the weekend — it was a great experience and we will be back next year for sure!”

Moving ahead to the coming weekend, Stermin is keen to add the 2016 WP Senior Max title to his double WP and SA Junior Max championships on his home track against his home rivals. “This weekend should be good — there is no reason to take any risks as I hold a strong championship lead, but that does not mean that I won’t be going flat out to beat my home town rivals Delano Fowler and Umpie Swart on Saturday. “Bring it on - its bound to be a great day’s racing!”
