Another splendid GT performance in Pretoria

It’s been a busy month for rising GT racing star Kwanda Mokoena, who continued his splendid step up with a fourth double GT4 class victory in four outings at Zwartkops on Saturday. Mokoena once again claimed several bigger and faster car scalps as he powered his smaller class Amandla Coal MJR Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 to win Class C in both fifth round Pretoria G+H Extreme Supercar races.

“It was another great weekend for me and my Amandla Coal MJR Audi R8 LMS GT4 at Zwartkops,” Kwanda beamed after the race. “I am really starting to get the hang of the car and racing a GT machine and with my team boss Marius Jackson and the MJR team’s guidance, my pace is getting better and better very time we race. “I qualified on pole position in Class C and well inside the top ten. “Then I chased a few faster GT3 machines and a Class A KTM hard to take Class C honours and another top ten in race 1.

“It went even better in race 2, I was able to pick off a GT3 Ferrari to take seventh overall and the Class C win for the day. "I have enjoyed a brilliant start to my GT racing career and I cannot thank my sponsors, my parents, my team and everyone else who has had a part in my step up, enough. “I am loving every minute!” It's a spiritual home race for Kwanda next, when he races in the SA Endurance and GT series double header close to his ancestral homeland at the East London Grand Prix Circuit on 23 July.
