Saturday’s Extreme Festival Compcare Polo Cup races proved a significant step up for Giordano Lupini on a dominant day for the fledgling Bullion IT Racing team. Lupini set the pace throughout the weekend, took pole position to claim the R2,500 Dunlop Pole Position award, and he also set two of the three fastest race laps. Bullion IT Racing teammate Jurie Swart took two of the three race wins and the other fastest lap to win the day as the duo made their Cape Town home race their own as they contributed to a home town 1-2-3-4.

It was a big weekend for Giordano following a trying transition up to Polo Cup late last year “It wasn't a perfect day,” Giordano admitted. “But I once again made a massive leap forward to find myself amongst the front runners all weekend. “To take pole position in my first Polo Cup Superpole was a major highlight, and we had the pace throughout, so thanks to Nian Du Toit Racing — the car felt great every time I went out. “We were a little unlucky with the timing of that first race safety car, but that’s racing! “The potential is there — now we just need to tie it all together.

“It is also a great privilege to race for a team like Bullion IT Racing alongside my teammate Jurie Swart, who delivered a great double win to take the weekend on our maiden outing. “Our little team has gelled brilliantly, so a huge thank you to Bullion IT for making all this possible. “Now none of us can wait for the next round at Zwartkops 23 April. “Bring it on — see you there!”
