Van der Watt looking for a GTC win in East London
AutoZone Ford Focus GTC driver Julian van der Watt is ready to race in the fourth round of South Africa’s premier national Global Touring Car championship at the East London Grand Prix Circuit on Saturday 28 August. Van der Watt won his second race in the WCT Engineering prepared Chemical Logistics Racing run Autozone Focus at his home round at Cape Town’s Killarney racetrack and he’s keen to build on that at the fast and demanding Border racetrack.
“I am really looking forward to East London,” Julian admitted. “The Grand Prix Circuit is one of my favourite racetracks and the Autozone Focus GTC is ready to race. “I am a strong third in the championship chase at the halfway mark. “We only finished this car a week before the first race and I managed to ace the second reverse grid race to take my first win that weekend.
“Now all three cars in our team have won a race so far this year and I'd like to be the first to make it a double to celebrate Autozone’s colours on my car. “I am absolutely delighted to have AutoZone aboard as our title sponsor and now with that extra support, we look forward to our next step to the front and to doing AutoZone, Chemical Logistics Racing and the WCT Engineering team proud on track at East London.”
