Motlekar ready for SA Max Final
The South African Rotax Max Challenge Karting Finals at Zwartkops on Saturday 21 September are building up to be the biggest day in Mini Max rookie Ghazi Motlekar’s race career. Motlekar heads to Pretoria in a solid fifth in the title chase in a wild five-way fight for the championship third, but he is under no illusions about the challenge ahead.
“We have had a good run in the nationals this year and my consistent results have put me fifth in the championship and within striking distance of third place,” Dainfern lad Ghazi explained. “But I am racing against a few very quick and experienced drivers, so it won’t be easy and with four races to run, there is just as much chance of losing ground, especially when some of my rivals have missed races and will not drop any points when we all take our worst three scores off.
“Still, I am confident — my pace is coming on strong and I am learning fast from my manager Wesleigh Orr —
there is plenty work to do, but with a little luck, we will have a good weekend to end my national campaign on a high and I will be in a strong position to fight in front next year — I really can’t wait!”
