Motlekar a solid fourth at Vereeniging

Dainfern lad Ghazi Motlekar delivered solid results in Saturday’s Vereeniging Northern Regions Mini Max karting races as he continued his preparations for the Rotax Max National Finals at Zwartkops in three weeks. Motlekar put in a workmanlike performance to end fourth for the day and most notably, jump from seventh to fourth in the Gauteng title chase.

“We had a good day on track and a very good day in the Northern Regions championship,” Ghazi explained. “Two fourths and a fifth were enough to see me to jump up four places in the title chase, so I am very happy with that! “I am working very hard with Wesleigh Orr and we made some more good progress during the last week.

“The races were exciting too — my pace is coming on strong — the first two heats were great but I had a small problem with the brakes in the final, but hey — that’s racing! “Still, we are all happy with the result and now we can concentrate on the national finals in a few weeks — I am really looking forward to that!”
