Umpie takes new look to Pretoria

Jurie ‘Umpie’ Swart heads to Pretoria not just ready to improve on his third in the Falken Polo Cup championship chase, but flying black-themed new colours aboard his Alpine Autohaus GAP Motorsport Polo. Cape Town racer Swart and his home team literally moved the mountain as they have taken it to the established Polo Cup teams so far this year and the crew is intent to keep the ball rolling through the second half of the season.

“We have had a brilliant run so far this season with a home race win and second overall in PE last time out,” Umpie explained. “All that action had taken a bit of a toll on my car, which was starting to look a bit scrappy, so we took the opportunity of the six-week break since Aldo Scribante to refresh the Alpine Autohaus GAP Motorsport Polo and decided to move from red back to black, so expect a new look from us this weekend!

“We have had a pretty good season so far — there was a bit of a wobble in the opening race, but we have improved steadily from there and now we sit third in the championship, so the plan is to close the gap to Jeff Kruger and Bradley Liebenberg up front and edge away from the pack snapping at my heels.

“That won’t be too easy at Zwartkops — most of my rivals race from there, so a proper result there will be a feather in my and GAP Motorsport team's cap and the plan is to chase the best possible results this weekend. "The black Alpine Autohaus Polo is ready!"
