Young Visser King of Cape Mini karting

Durbanville’s karting Visser brothers enjoyed polar weekends at Killarney’s fifth round WP karting championship races on Saturday as young Kyle came home with double victory in the under-13 Mini Max and Mini Rok classes, while elder brother Charl had to make do with fourth in high school Junior Max as he prepared to defend his South African championship lead in that class at the Killarney national in two weeks time.

Kyle won the two opening Mini Max races before cruising to second in the final as he took an easy overall win for the day, but the Rok class was a little more difficult as he had to fight back from a race 1 retirement to win the second and third races and steal that overall win. “Wow, what a weekend!” Kyle admitted. “It was herd racing all the way today, but we managed to do the double and win four of my six heats, which is cool.

“I need to thank my mechanics Zefry and Bigshow and my dad for the best karts on track and my mom for all the support.” Saturday’s results see Kyle in command of both Western Province under-13 karting championships, with a 28 point Mini Rok title advantage and a 25 point lead in the Mini Max championship. “Now I need another weekend like that at the Mini Max nationals in two weeks,” Kyle concluded. “It’s been a rough start there and it's time to make up!”

Elder brother Charl spent his day preparing for the Junior Max national as he heads to his home round leading that South African championship class in two weeks. “I had the pace and came home with the fastest lap of the day,” Charl confirmed. “But I had a little off at the worst possible time so the results were not that great but it's the national next and we will come back stronger for that in two weeks time. “Thanks to the team and everyone who supports us - now for that national!”
