Racing four classes of thee races apiece is bound to bring out the extremes for any karting team and that’s exactly what went down for Charl Electric Racing brothers Kyle and Charl Visser at a wild weekend of combined Western Province fourth round regional and national level Rok Cup racing at Killarney over the weekend. Both brothers won races on the one hand, but both also had their fair share of dramas on the other, too.

Younger brother Kyle Visser made it a dominant clean sweep of WP Mini Max wins to take that class at ease, but it was a more difficult weekend in the Mini Rok Cup. “Max was awesome, but I had to work hard tor each win over Joaquin de Oliveira and Mikhail Fernandez, so I was delighted with my day there,” Kyle pointed out. “But we just could not get my Rok kart to work this weekend and I really struggled there. “Fortunately I did enough to take third in the regional points but the national result was nothing to shout about.”

Elder brother Charl took third in the Rok Cup MSA Academy opening heat before winning the second race, but he was pulled into an accident and was forced to retire from the final, but still brought it home fourth overall, while he took a couple of thirds and a second to emerge second in the local WP Junior Max races. “Academy was looking good and I was planning a strategy to win the final too, when I could not avoid a crash up front and the kart ingested sand and I had to stop,” Charl explained. “I had good pace in Junior Max, but not good enough — we have some work to do there!”

“Thanks to my dad and the entire team for all the efforts over the weekend,” Charl concluded. “Without you guys we could never do this as well as we do it!”
