Zwartkops hosts May 19 Gauteng races

The Northern Regions Karting Championship heads to the Zwartkops International Kart Track for the Rand Kart Club’s third round races with several drivers looking to settle scores and others keen to get their campaigns on the front foot Saturday 19 May.

Perhaps the biggest grudge match will go down in Junior Max, where winner last time out Daniele Patrizi and Jarrod Waberski will come under pressure from the recently out of luck Aqil Alibhai, Kwanda Mokoena, Jayden Els, and Leyton Fourie. Tiffany Napier, Joseph Ellerine, Cameron Dias and Daniel de Paiva will be out to make up for lost ground and Ethan Coetzee, Nathi Msimanga, Alessio Angelucci and Zaeem Goolam will all be keen on another positive weekend.

Bradley Liebenberg took the last regional DD2 race win, while Arnold Neveling picked up penalties, but proved unstoppable in the recent national and those two will certainly be at each others’ throats again. Add Benjamin Habig, Jordan North and lady star Ivana Cetinich to the mix and blend in the Masters fought out between Richard Fuller, Pascal Acquaah, Philippe Chapat and Jean-Pierre Joubert, and DD2 should stun Pretoria as usual.

Rotax Senior Max went through a confusing weekend last time out as Liam Pienaar hit trouble to allow Wayland Wyman to win race 2, before a wet track stirred things up completely in the final, but expect Cristiano Morgado, Joshua Dias, Dominic Lincoln, Nicholas Verheul, karting lass Shannon Jackson and Shrien Naidoo to be out to restore the status quo, while Ian Allnutt, Damian Hammond, Luvuyu Mobwano, Farhaan Basha and Carlo Olivier will all be out for their slice of the laurels.

In primary school action, Joshua de Paiva is keen on a clean weekend in under-13 Mini Max in his efforts to deal with Jordan Brooks, Liam De Beer and Mathew Morrell in under-13 Mini Max. Never overlook Josh le Roux, Jayden Goosen, Jagger Robertson and Moosa Kajee, while Taya van der Laan, Mandla Mlangeni, Troy Snyman, Reece Fuller and Melandri van Wyk are all finding more pace every time they get out on track.

Mohammed Wally will likewise be after an untroubled weekend in under-11 Rotax Micro Max as he looks to re-establish his stranglehold on that class after Joshua de Paiva and Muhammed Moerat took a few races off him last time out. They will need to keep an eye on Luke Hill, KC Ensor Smith, Luviwe Sambudla, Kent Swartz, Kyle Beukes, Troy Snyman, Luke Hill and Hriday Pooren, while Wian Boshoff, Cyril Jacobs, Rayn Asmal, Mika Abrahams, Dhivyen Naidoo and Erich Heystek will be keen on a move up the grid.

Cyril Jacobs and Tshepang Shisinwana should continue their under-8 kindergarten Cadet tussle with Anesu Maphumulo, Aadam Kajee and Goran Gruban, while Troy van der Enzo Rujugiro and Keagan Beaumont will be keen to topple all of them.

Find the Zwartkops International Kart Raceway behind at the Zwartkops Raceway’s main circuit pits on the R55 just outside Laudium, Pretoria. Entrance is free and the facility offers great grub at the clubhouse with full amenities and of course, an entire afternoon of kart racing at its best…
