Oosthuizen second, Green 7th in PE

The Windy City lived up to its reputation when the 2018 MSA South African National Enduro Championships visited Port Elizabeth for the 2018 Rover Winterberg Enduro on Saturday, but neither the gale nor a tough, rocky and mountainous route could stop Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing duo William Oosthuizen and Matthew Green from delivering a positive result for the team. Oosthuizen celebrated his step up the official team with a fine second in the E1 class, while Green delivered another strong performance with seventh in E1.

Mossel Bay rider Oosthuizen was delighted with his first ride as an official Pepson Plastics rider aboard the works Husqvarna TE 300i as he rode to second in E1 and fourth overall to back up his season opening class win in Robertson earlier in the year. “I am super happy with my first race on my new bike,” William admitted. “Second in E1 and fourth overall is a great result for me and the team and now we know what to work on going forward, so I can’t wait for the next challenge. “I would like to thank my family and my sponsors for all their help and support and of course a special word of appreciation to my incredible new team!”

Nottingham Road SA Junior Enduro Champion Green meanwhile revelled aboard his new Pepson Plastics Husqvarna FE250 en route to another good points haul with seventh in class in Port Elizabeth. “I enjoyed a great ride on ride and I’m starting to get on top my bigger new bike,” Matt explained. “Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing gave me a great bike as usual — thanks to everyone who makes this happen — now I’m looking forward to moving onward and upward from here.

“Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing had a good weekend on a tough route in the windy Eastern Cape Mountains,” Husqvarna Husqvarna Motorcycles South Africa brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “William Oosthuizen responded to our signing him with a great second and Matthew Green delivered another strong performance to put the team on the front foot for the rest of the season — well done on some excellent work by the whole team and another great result.”

There's just a week before the next stop for Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing at the Koue Bokkeveld Cross Country near Ceres in the Cape this weekend, while the enduro team's next appointment is at home at Kyalami Saturday 26 May.
