Boyd hoping for a level field at Killarney
South African Rotax Junior Max karting champion Sebastian Boyd returns to Killarney for the second round of the 2018 Western Province championship looking for a better weekend in the open DD2 gearbox class Saturday 3 March. SACS College Grade 10 learner Boyd endured a frustrating top class debut, but was in the thick of it throughout the weekend and he’s eyeing a step up next time out.
“We had a fairly good start to the season, but it could have been much better,” The Camps Bay lad admitted. “We struggled to get what I needed from my Boyd Boss freight Kosmic last time out - I was right on the pace in practice but we went backward when we bolted new tyres to my kart, while others went forward as they should and it was a mission from there on in. “We have been promised a solution by the suppliers so let’s hope this weekend isn’t another lottery.
“The DD2 class is super-competitive this year — not only in the Cape, but also for the nationals where we will race against some pretty handy rivals from around the country, so a competitive weekend at home will go a long way towards our preparations for the first national at iDube in KZN in March…”
