Laserfiche hosts third Gauteng round

The third round of Gauteng’s Northern Regions karting championship will burst into action at Vereeniging’s Laserfiche Raceway Saturday 13 May, with several karters looking to make amends, while others will be out to assert their newfound authority.

Fifteen-year old Cameron O’Connor emerged the star of the day with five wins in six starts to claim double overall honours last time out and he will be keen to maintain his recent home advantage over triple SA champion Bradley Liebenberg, who heads to the Vaal off a national DD2 win at Killarney a week back. They will need to deal with Bloemfontein lad Justin Allison, impressive lady driver Ivana Cetinich, Bevan Williams and DD2 Masters crew Andrea Furci, Pascal Acquaah and Ronaldo Baptista.

O’Connor is also the man to beat in Senior Max, but he will have Ballito lad Daniel Duminy, Joshua Dias, East London lass Shannon Jackson, Oliver Gunner and Tiago Rebelo baying for his blood. A step down to Junior Max will see Blaine Rademeyer keen to continue off his three straight race high school Junior Max wins last time out but the young ladies, Cameron Dias and Tiffany Napier and gents Wayland Wyman, Jayden Els now driving a CRG, Joseph Ellerine and Kwanda Mokoena will be keen on revenge.
Leyton Fourie is another driver to beat in Mini Max, where Daniel de Paiva, Jarrod Waberski, Aqil Alibhai, Ethan Coetzee and Jagger Robertson will do their best to stem his tide. Fourie will however want to get one back on quick Kwanda Mokoena in Mini Rok, where Waberski, Ethan Coetzee, Reece Fuller and Anthony Pretorius are also danger men. The third senior primary school Maxterino class will see Jordan Brooks and Muhammad Wally continuing their fraught battle up front with Joshua de Paiva, Aqil Alibhai, Luviwe Sambudla and KC Ensor-Smith keen to beat them both.

Mohammad Wally is the Micro Max form man but Joshua de Paiva, Mohammed Moerat and Reece Fuller, Kyle Beukes, Caleb Cotterell and Jayden Goosen will be keen to upset the apple cart there; while Wian Boshoff, Luke Hill, Cyril Jacobs, Anthon Lombard, Tshepang Shisinwana and Rayn Asma will be tussling for baby Cadet honours.

Scott Falconer is keen to keep up his old school 125 GP class advantage over Richard Fuller and Miguel Dias; Clint Jones, Paulo Dias and Kurt Bakewell brothers - Kurt and top Veteran Rob and his rivals Wayne Masters and Mike Venske and Kyle Lawrence will be chasing another Superkart victory over the likes of Brandon Auby, Dylan Seely and Michael Pringle.

Find the Laserfische Raceway on van Riebeeck Street, Vereeniging next to the Vaal Show Grounds, left off the Boy Louw Street off-ramp heading south on the R59 Vereeniging freeway. Scrumptious refreshments are on sale at the circuit and entrance is free — what better to do on that day off than go watch SA’s greatest drivers of the moment fighting it out on the kart track.
