Stermin’s hack to back WP kart titles
Belville youngster Dino Stermin added the 2016 Western Cape Senior Max karting title to his growing CV that includes the 2015 Cape and South African Junior Max titles on Saturday. The Designer Trims RKT Kosmic driver ended second on the day in a busy meeting at Killarney’s races, to wrap up the title over old sparring partner Delano Fowler following a fraught weekend’s racing
“I’m really happy to have won two Western Province karting championships in a row,” Fairmont High grade 11 scholar Dino admitted. “It was the last regional of the year and we had excellent pace — we qualified on pole, won race one and finished second in the second and third heats. “Yeah, I was hoping to win the day but what was most important was to secure the championship.
“Special thanks to my mentor Kito Perdigao, my dad and my mom and to RKT for all the help this year. “Till next year — see you then!”
While he has been confirmed as WP champion, Stermin still stands a chance of also taking the outstanding SA Senior Max title he had initially won, but which remains in abeyance following a series of courtroom actions…
