Husqvarna star focussed on title

Pepson Plastics Husqvarna rider William Oosthuizen heads to the Western Cape looking for his fifth win on the trot as he chases the South African E1 class National Enduro Championship at round 5 in Robertson on 24 August. Teammates, Brett Swanepoel is meanwhile chasing a podium title finish alongside Oosthuizen in E2, while young Matthew Green continues on his 200cc E1 charge.

“We have worked so hard and the results are clear to see — it’s been a brilliant season so far!” Mossel Bay star William Oosthuizen, who is unbeaten in class so far this season explained. “Our biggest challenge remains the fact that my principal rival has finished second every time, so one slip and we can lose that four race advantage in an instant, so it’s 100% focus — I know my incredible Pepson Plastics will have an awesome Husqvarna for me as always this weekend, so this one is up to me.”

Brett Swanepoel enjoyed a little extra national championship racing in preparation for Robertson after subbing for the injured Kenny Gilbert in the recent Lesotho Cross Country round, but it's back to enduro aboard his Pepson Plastics Husqvarna as he approaches full strength in his own return from recuperation. “I've finished all four races in my four national enduro starts this season,” Brett confirmed. “Now the plan is to get onto that podium — and the top step — as soon as possible to reward Pepson Plastics Husqvarna Racing for their brilliant support and belief in me.”

Matthew Green heads to the Cape straight off being the only South African to deliver a gold class finish at the extreme Romaniacs and also his best result of the local season in the previous SA enduro round. “I learned so much in Romania once again this year and I hope to use that golden experience to great effect in Robertson,” Matthew admitted. “I put my Pepson Plastics Husqvarna podium last time out — now it’s time for that step or two up!"

“William will arrive in Robertson fresh off an unbeaten four wins in four races so far this season, so the focus is now fully on maintaining his title advantage through to the end,” Husqvarna South Africa Motorcycles brand manager Fred Fensham concluded. “His teammates Matthew and Brett are also ready to win, so we are really looking forward to racing in those rugged Robertson Mountains — best of luck guys!”
