Pepper a fine W Series sixth at Zolder

South Africa’s Tasmin Pepper enjoyed another competitive outing in the second round of the W Series woman’s racing world championship at Zolder in Belgium on Saturday, enjoying a frantic four car dice with Spanish driver Marta Garcia, Brit Sarah Moore and Lichtenstein lass Fabienne Wohlwend en route to sixth as she moved up to seventh in the championship race .

Pepper, who ended 8th in the season opener in Hockenheim two weeks ago, was delighted with progress in Belgium: “Sixth today!” a delighted Tasmin confirmed. “I am really happy with our progress this weekend - every time I get in the car it’s getting better and better. "Zolder is probably one of the top tracks on my list in Europe so far, I had a great weekend and enjoyed every second of it!

"I had decent pace and qualifying went well to put me in a fighting seventh on the grid and I made up a position early on. “From there it was tight — I was never much more than a few tenths behind Sarah while, I also had to keep Fabienne at bay, but this old school track made it very difficult to pass on, so I was unable to make any more positions up in the race.

Dutch lass Beitske Visser overcame the British duo, first race winner Jamie Chadwick and Alice Powell to win the Zolder W Series race as she moved to second in the title race behind Chadwick and ahead of Powell, Garcia, Wood, Wohlwend and Tasmin in the inaugural championship race. W Series returns to action in Misano, Italy Saturday 8 June.

“Thanks once again to W Series for the opportunity to race and huge thanks to my dad and brother for coming out to support me and all the love and support I get from back home! — I truly am proud to fly the South African flag in the inaugural W Series.” Tasmin concluded. “Now I am keen to see what Misano has in store and looking forward to making more steps forward on the grid. ."
