A different day ahead for PE race fans

Port Elizabeth race fans are in for something a little different Saturday 21 September, when the Aldo Scribante Race Track hosts a round of the Northern Regions Extreme Festival and its premier categories. There will however be much to cheer for as a number of local racers will be out to play interference among most of the visiting classes...

Among the star visiting attractions, the Mobil 1 V8 Supercars thunder into PE, with title leader Mackie Adlem (Adlem Auto Jaguar) out to tighten his title grip, but closest rivals Terry Wilford (Fuchs Falcon) and Franco di Matteo (Deltec Jaguar) will be out to stop him. Last time the G&H Transport Extreme Supercars came to the Bay, title rivals Franco Scribante (Porsche) and Charl Arangies (Stradale McLaren) became embroiled in a red-hot feud on a wet Aldo and they will be at it again. It's also a family affair with cousin Dino Scribante (Porsche), G&H Transport Giannoccaro cousins Gianni (Lamborghini) and Jimmy (Ferrari) and TAR brothers Mark (BMW) and Jonathan du Toit (Ferrari) and keep an eye on Stradale duo Xlolile Leflaka (McLaren) and Ant Blunden (Porsche).

Local fans have much to shout about with two more Scribante cousins, PE brothers Aldo and Silvio in their Audi S4s, Nick Davidson in his newly V8-powered Audi S4, Gordon Nicholson (Skyline GTR), Kevin Kelly (Mitsubishi Evo) and Ian Riddle (BMW) up against the visiting BMWs of Loureiro brothers Rick and Paulo and Len-Henry Gobey, championship leader Roy Obery (Class D Porsche) and second man Elwyn Steenkamp's (Class C BMW M3).

Expect thrilling paint-swapping action in the Motor Mart Volkswagen Challenge, where Polo 6R men Rory Atkinson (BHIT), Lyle Ramsay (Monroe/Fuchs), Bevin Masters (CPS Warehouse) and Waldie Meintjes (Allwagen Parts) will fight it out in front. Cape Dolphin Racing Formula Libre pair and Byron Mitchell also join a field famous for the closest racing.
